Carburetor repair versus carb replacement.
Have an atv, dirt or streetbike that has been sitting for a long time? Purchased one that has been sitting a while and can't get it to run or run properly? There may be a temptation to purchase a new carb and throw out the old one, my opinion would be "don't throw it out".
A big problem right now is counterfeit carbs. Many people purchase carbs thinking they are genuine and when they need to rejet or buy replacement parts find the correct parts dont fit the clone carb.
I would suggest reparing the carb, or at least trying to repair it first.
The most common issues are the jets getting varnished over with old fuel. The result is the holes are completely or partially plugged which makes the engine run lean, difficult to start and backfiring.
Since the jets will need replaced also purchase a carb bowl gasket, and while removing the carb bowl the phillips head screws will most likely strip. Get a set of our carb bowl screws.
Those items, the jets, gasket and screws are the most common repair items needed.
If fuel keeps running out of the carb it is normally the float needle valve and seat, replace that if needed. Sometimes the floats are old and leak and they can cause the same issue as a bad float valve and seat. If the floats are bad replace those as well.
